The Spectacular Inside the Volcano Tour

This is an amazing tour tourists will never forget. We will take tourists to Þrihjúkagigur (it means Three Peaks Crater) which is one of the three craters situated near the Blue Mountain 20 km outside Reykjavík. This volcano is dormant. It erupted over 4000 years ago and it shows no sign of erupting again. Thank goodness for that! This tour will take tourists to descend through a volcano into a huge magma chamber. Inside the volcano, they will see rainbow colors of rocks and will also be amazed by the size of it. This is truly a once-in-a-life-time experience which will make anyone unforgettable.

The hike: We will hike through lava fields to the volcano from the parking lot. It´s about 3 km each way which it takes about 45-50 mínutes to hike it. The hike is pretty easy and is not uphill, but sometimes is can be on uneven grounds. The hike is scaled 2 out of 5.

The Base Camp: After we have reached to the base camp, tourists can enjoy a cup of coffee or tea before being oriented by the guides there. Then they will be provided with all the safety gears like helmets, harnesses etc.

The Volcano: We will descend 120 meter / 400 feet to the bottom of the crater in an open cable lift. It takes about 6 minutes to get down to the bottom by this lift. Once inside the volcano, an experienced guide will tell tourists everything they need to know about the volcano, the geology of Iceland etc. They will have 30-40 minutes to explore this huge volcano and take loads of photos. Only small groups are inside the volcano at once and we take the lift up once we have finished our time there.

The Reward: Once back to the base camp, tourists will be rewarded with this delicious traditional Icelandic lamb soup, coffee / tea. Vegetarians will enjoy a vegetable soup.

The hike back: we will go through the same lava fields back to the parking lot of the Blue Mountain, which takes 45-50 minutes to walk this 3 km journey.
