The Amazing Borgarnes Tour

OVERVIEW:
This tour takes you to these amazing sceneries of waterfalls and volcanic craters, a true land of ice and fire:

Deildartunguhver Hot Spring: Europe´s biggest hot spring. It provides hot water for Akranes and Borgarnes. The pipe lines are the longest in the world.

Hraunfossar Lava Waterfall:  a series of waterfalls formed by rivulets over a distance of 900 meters, out of the Hallmundarhraun, a lava field which flowed from an eruption of a volcano under the glacier of Langjökull. This waterfall is unique and offers you stunning and amazing views of the waterfall.

Barnafoss Children´s Fall: Just a stone up the Hraunfossar Lava Fall is the Children´s Fall. According to legend Barnafoss takes its name from two children who fell into the waterfall.

Reykholt: is one of Iceland’s most notable historical sites. It houses a cultural centre and a church. Reykholt is most famous for being the home of Iceland’s best-known author Snorri Sturluson during the years 1206-1241. An ancient geothermal pool, Snorralaug, is named after him. It is one of the few things preserved whole from Iceland´s medieval period. Snorrastofa is a cultural centre and institute for research in medieval studies. Snorrastofa offers historical exhibitions and guided tours and lectures. Music recitals are held in the church of Reykholt.

Glanni Waterfall: on the Norðurá River is said to be the dwelling place of elves and trolls.
The walking path extends from the waterfall to a beautiful hollow with lush vegetation and a clear pond which reflects deep blue and blue green colours. The hollow is called Paradísarlaut, or Paradise Hollow, and emerges like an oasis in the lava on the riverbank.

Grábrók Crater: was formed in a fissure eruption less than 3000 years ago. It is 173m a.s.l. Grábrók is the largest of the craters on a 600m long fissure. The Grábrók fissure is the easternmost post glacial eruption site in the Ljósufjöll volcanic system. There is a very nice, easy to climb pathway created on the hill. You can climb to the top of the crater which will give you stunning views.
